I recently pondered about the legalities of food sharing and thought this Berkeleyside article about a crop swap sponsored by the Berkeley Transition Initiative was so spot on that it deserved mention here. Once a week, urban farmers will gather and swap their excess crops. Sounds simple and logical. Last year, we were up to our ears in tomato and squash and really could have used some vegetable diversity. We were late to plant this year, but I’m hoping that we will be able to participate in this swap in a few weeks. I’ll report back then if there’s anything worthy of reporting.
